Welcome to the 8th Grade!!!!! I am so happy to be your homeroom teacher this year at St. Peter Academy. My summer has been flying by and has been filled with some travel and some relaxing. I've had some time to read some novels and see some Broadway Shows. I have also had some extra time to spend with my family, friends and of course Watson.
I know you guys know a lot about me, but I want to leave this paragraph here to let the incoming 7th grade get to know a little about me. Ever since I was two, teaching is all that I EVER wanted to do. In 1986, my dream became a reality when I graduated from Bloomsburg University. I have loved every minute of my "job" (which never seems like a job to me) because it is different every single day and filled with lots of excitement, laughter and love. My favorite classes to teach are religion, math, literature and science. Since becoming a teacher I have taught almost every grade, but my favorite years have been spent teaching 7th and 8th graders. I live in Emerson with my Yorkie, Watson (yes that is him in the picture above), who is 8 1/2 and the most lovable dog you can imagine. I live steps away from Assumption Church and that works well since I am the Youth Minister there. I love to travel, read, spend time with my friends and enjoy every minute of every day. I look forward to meeting each of you and learning everything about you. Developing a classroom atmosphere filled with care and respect for each other is very important to me. You will learn quickly that I will do ALL that I can to allow you to have a happy and successful year academically, socially and most importantly spiritually.
As the oldest grade in the school, many of the younger students will look up to you. I am certain you will each do your best to set a good example for them. Mr. McCarthy will be on the loudspeaker often asking you to help him in some way. Believe it or not...this year is going to FLY BY! There is so much for you to look forward to...class trips...field day...retreats....admission into high school and all of the activities that come along with graduation to name a few. Your final year at St. Peter's will be extremely important as you prepare for the Cooperative Exam and gain entrance into the high school of your choice. It will be an incredibly exciting time in your life and I am so happy to be able to share it with you. I will do everything in my power to make this your best year ever...I am counting on each of you to do the same.
I am SO EXCITED to work with you and your parents!!!!!!! I look forward to seeing your reading projects. Continue having a WONDERFUL summer!!!!! Love, Ms. Agnew
